Morrissey was great the other night. Though his opening act, Kristeen Young, left a lot to be desired. What kind of singer would you associate with a name like Kristeen Young? Country perhaps? I was confused by her entire show. The background music was alright but then she'd open her mouth and it would turn into some god awful chant. I spent most of the show wincing at the stage and downing a lot of drinks.
Morrissey however rocked it! While no longer the trim and fit lad that he once was, his voice was still amazing. I thought another opening band was going to perform because I didn't recognize the face on the backdrop of the stage. Apparently it's a British actor that he's in love with. How cute.

Last night I celebrated birthdays with Maria at Limon in the Mission. My favorite dish is the Ceviche Limon - fresh halibut, shrimp, calamari, and mussels marinated in lime juice and served with Peruvian corn and salsa criolla. I managed to also finish off a pork chop AND truffled mac and cheese. Delicious! Afterwards we went to Shutter at 330 Ritch for 80s music. I didn't stay out long though because today is going to be jammed pack with BBQs, beer, and fireworks.

Jelly Shoes.
Oh yea. You loved them, I loved them.
I especially enjoyed how sweaty my toes would get at the end of the day. Or what about when dirt seeped in between the little openings and would cling to my sweaty toes? HOT.
People say that fashion is circular and styles always make a comeback. Why must the ugly stuff come back too? Now, I'm just waiting for Hypercolor t-shirts and shoulder pads.

Gallery 1988 hosted an 'I am 8Bit' artshow last month. I saw it on Spike TV's Game Head, which covered the event and interviewed several of the artists. If only I had known earlier, I would have flown down to LA for this. It would have been a good excuse for a mini vacation in the sun. LA is one of those places that really isn't fun to visit unless you have a purpose...friends, concerts, theater, etc...otherwise you're just left to shopping and driving around for hours in traffic.
The artwork is pretty cool, though not cheap for some of the larger pieces. I especially adore the Zelda, PacMan and Dig Dug pieces. But my favorite has to be the 'Last Supper' painting - I love that it's Donkey Kong - which I believe has been sold already. Boohoo...it would have gone well in the SOMA loft that I don't have yet. ;)
